Close to God.
"Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?" (Jeremiah 23:23). When asked the Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin if he had seen God up there on high, he said no. Shortly thereafter, Gordon Cooper rose to the stratosphere. When asked the same question, he replied. "To see God, does not need to climb to the heights, take it inside myself." The Creator can not be seen by our carnal eyes. He is Spirit, dwelling in unapproachable light (1 Timothy 6:16) and sits on a high and lofty throne. But the Most High dwells also, through His Spirit in the heart of the contrite and humble spirit, to enliven it (Isaiah 57:15). The Almighty God is God up close and from afar. It is within each of us and accompanies us at all times, even when we think we are alone in this world. So David said: Whither shall I go from thy spirit or whither shall I flee from thy face? (Ps. 139.7). When you come the thoughts of loneliness and grief, we can not forget that the Lord is always on our side. He never leaves us, however difficult the situation. Himself asks of His children and consoles. Can a woman forget her child both of establishing that there is no compassion on the son of her womb? But even they may forget, I (God), however, I not forget thee. (49.15 Isaias.).
